Kamala Harris Isn’t Letting Gangs Take Over America—But Facts Aren’t Required in This Hit Piece

By Josiah Carrasco

Ah, the press release. What a magical piece of communication. You know, the kind that’s filled with more scare tactics than a haunted house and less substance than a bag of cotton candy. Today’s subject? A fantastically wild accusation that Kamala Harris, in her supposed role as the "Border Czar," is single-handedly opening the floodgates for Venezuelan gangs to take over America. Because of course, if you can’t win people over with policy, you can always try to scare them with a boogeyman—right?

Let’s dissect this horror show, shall we?

The Gang of Doom

The press release warns of the terrifying Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang that has, according to this piece, managed to do everything short of declaring itself a sovereign state within the U.S. This gang, the release claims, is now running wild in Colorado’s neighborhoods, brandishing weapons, taking over apartment buildings, and generally turning suburban America into a scene straight out of "Mad Max."

While it’s true that gang activity is a serious issue, let’s not pretend that Kamala Harris or her border policies are what brought criminal gangs into existence. Gangs have been around for centuries, fueled by poverty, corruption, and instability—problems that are as much global as they are local. But why let facts get in the way of a good scare tactic?

Harris: The Border Czar (Cue the Ominous Music)

One of the release’s favorite punching bags is Kamala Harris, referred to repeatedly as the "Border Czar." It’s a catchy title, but also a convenient one for the right-wing echo chamber to pin every single problem on her. It’s as if they imagine Harris sitting in a secret lair, gleefully pushing buttons labeled “open borders” and “release the gangs.”

In reality, Harris’s role in border policy is far more nuanced—and limited. The complexities of immigration policy don’t lend themselves to soundbites, but suffice it to say that no single person, let alone Harris, controls the entire apparatus. The challenges at the border are systemic, involving decades of policy, international relations, and yes, human rights considerations. But who needs nuance when you’ve got fear on your side?

CNN’s “Reporting” and Convenient Omissions

The release drags CNN into the mix, selectively quoting their reporting to lend credibility to the fearmongering. But as with most selective quoting, context is everything. While CNN may have reported on the existence of Tren de Aragua, what this press release conveniently omits is that the situation is far more complex than just a gang “infiltrating” the U.S. These are issues deeply intertwined with economic desperation, political turmoil in Venezuela, and the exploitation of migrants by organized crime—issues that predate Harris’s tenure and are not so easily pinned on one person or administration.

The Sly Trump Card

Ah, and here it comes: the obligatory shout-out to Trump, the man who, in this narrative, will somehow wave a magic wand and fix everything. Never mind the fact that Trump’s draconian immigration policies did little to stem the tide of violence or resolve the root causes of migration. But hey, who needs results when you can just blame someone else and promise to "send them home"?

And let’s not forget the offensive implication that all Venezuelan immigrants, desperate people fleeing a country in crisis, are somehow gang members. This isn’t just a gross oversimplification; it’s an outright lie designed to stoke xenophobia and rally the base. It’s a play straight out of the “immigrants are criminals” handbook, a tactic that has sadly become all too common in today’s political discourse.

The Real Story

Here’s the truth: immigration is a complex issue, and gangs like Tren de Aragua are a symptom of much larger problems—problems that require comprehensive solutions, not cheap fearmongering. If we really want to address these issues, we need to invest in international cooperation, support for vulnerable populations, and yes, smarter border policies that balance security with compassion.

But instead of offering real solutions, this press release opts for the low road, using scare tactics and outright lies to score political points. It’s a tired tactic, one that does nothing to actually solve the problems it claims to be so concerned about.

So next time you see a headline screaming about how Kamala Harris is letting gangs take over the country, take a moment to consider what’s really going on. Because behind the bluster, there’s often a lot less substance than you might think.
