Man Dies from Gunshot Wound in Fort Stockton

Fort Stockton, Texas — A man died from a gunshot wound in Fort Stockton early Saturday morning, causing concern and unrest within the community. The Fort Stockton Police Department, along with the Pecos County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety, responded to reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of West Sherer at around 2:45 a.m.


Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services transported him to Pecos County Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have yet to release the victim's identity, and the investigation is ongoing as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.


In a press statement, Fort Stockton Police Chief Ernesto Velasquez emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the department's commitment to finding those responsible. "We urge anyone with information to come forward and assist us in this investigation," Velasquez said.
